The Best Day Ever!

Before I get all wrapped up in my excitement, I have to say, HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!!!! Okay, there I said it. Now I have to tell you everything that made my day so amazing!

1. In Chorus, we watched a video on this musical group from England called STOMP. They use everyday objects to make rhythm. So I got all beatified with my binder, pencil and chair.

2. In CTE, we got chocolate.

3. Today, I went to a deaf couple's house and read to their four-year-old daughter (she isn't deaf). I am going to every week! GO ASL!!! And I could actually communicate with the girl's mom really well!

4. (This one's the very best!) In creative writing today, I got back my last unit. For one of the assignments in this unit, we had to put half of a photo of ourselves on a paper, and draw on the other side with your Alter Ego. Mr. Brooks(who is the COOLEST teacher of all time) really liked mine and he is using it as an example for his creative writing class next year. We also had our Poetry Circle. Basically what that is is that we bring all our desks in a big circle around the room and put a desk in the middle and we take turns reading a section of our story, poem, etc. Oh, and we eat food! This time, we got ice-cream! Our current Unit is poetry, so we got to read any poem that we wrote. I read part of my narrative poem about the greek myth Orpheus (the max lines we could read were 25, and mine was 40, so I read the last part. Mr. Brooks loved it, and he asked me for a copy. So I am typing it up tonight and giving it to him tomorrow morning. His English classes are learning about the Greek myths, so he is going to read it to them!!! And I get ten points extra credit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So that's my exciting news! Love you guys!

Honest Scrap

So I was tagged by my sister to do Honest Scrap (more like Honest's Crap)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So here are the rules:
A) First list 10 honest things about yourself--and make it interesting even if you have to dig deep.
B)Pass the award on to 7 bloggers that you feel embody the spirit of Honest Scrap...

Alright, here it goes:

1. I am WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY freaked out by clowns! They're supposed to look entertaining, but their facepaint is so creepy and abnormal. Now, I think a lot of people are scared of them. In my opinion, I just think they're weird!

2. Shots make me feel queasy to think about. I'm not really scared of the actual shot, but the anticipation is horrible at first! I can never watch when they stick it in my arm, and it bleeds a little, which makes it worse. And I think it's going to hurt, but it never hurts as much as I think it will. It's really weird.....

3. I am a crazy reader. Sometimes, I'll love my book so much that I'll get into a reading craze and finish a book a day, and then after that little streak, I'll hate to read, even if I like my book! Or I'll just read moderately. My list of books I need to read is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO long! You don't WANT to know how many books are on that list!

4. I LOVE emailing! I LOVE typing! I LOVE writing on the computer! I LOVE the computer! No more needs to be said!

5. I am always willing and/or in need of inspiration!

6. I have tried and failed many times to compose piano music at lots of different ages. It takes me forever just to come up with some lame part for just the right hand! Dom, I don't know how you do it!

7. One time, I was really crazy. My mom, my cousing Brinlee and I went to a harp concert with this girl that we knew from Georgia performing. I took a program and started writing scenes that I imagined for each song. Brinlee tried it, but said she couldn't do it. But then the songs all started to sound the same, and I had a hard time coming up with ideas! :)

8. I've only ridden a horse about two times in my life: One I was on with my mom, and I can hardly remember, the second was so I could get certified for a job at this horse place I used to volunteer at by my Jr. High. I would love to ride horses more often!

9. I like to dress up and play around with makeup! :p

10. I am a gum atict!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every time we go to Wal-mart, I always get a pack of gum. Little did I know that my mom got me a big box of 18 packs of Orbit gum!!! Hehehehehe..............

Writer's Block!

Okay, don't freak out, this isn't what it seems! You must be thinking, "NO! How could Laura be having WRITER'S BLOCK of all things?!"
Well, it's in poetry. In Creative Writing, we are doing a poetry unit. I have been stunned by the elegance of examples we have read in class. And Dom (for siblings who don't know who Dominic is, he's my amazing talented guyfriend!) is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good at poems! For a project in English, he wrote a poem and the teacher loved it!!!!!!!! I love it too, but I am just not good at it! It's horrible! I struggle to even find a topic, and that's just the basic part! I'm no good at metaphors and using the right words. Basically, I'm struggling to be poetic. But I love poetry so much! It's killing me as the battle rages on in my rapid-thinking mind!
I'm being ecstatic, sorry. I have decided to put in a column with poems on it. I got the idea from my brother Stephen's blog, when they put one on by Robert Frost. I LOVE Robert Frost! His poems are great! One of his poems was in a book we read in English called the Outsiders. (This is an awesome book, even though it isn't something you would think I would enjoy reading! I loved it!) The poem that he wrote that was in that book was called "Nothing Gold can stay" I'll put it on the column as soon as I finish this post to replace the Mist countdown. Hmmm, I should put a quote column too!
So yes, I am on a poetry craze! And I just got in a reading craze too! I finished Inkspell. It's so sad!!!!!! My heart broke when it was at the Farid part. I almost couldn't read on, but then when Dustfinger......WAH!
Sorry, babbling. Please comment if you have any suggestions. I NEED them.
Love you all!

Some Updates

So I need to talk about a few big things that have happened in order of when they happened to be caught up with updates. Sorry I don't post often! :P Okay, first update:

First update: Last week Karlie, a girl living with us while she is student teaching (we knew her parents in Georgia) had her friend Tony over with his friend Kade. Tony is half Phillipino half Mexican, and he is a great chef! He made us an AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! phillipino dinner. The four of us talked a lot during the process. I was lucky enough that they let me do so much stuff with them even though I wasn't in college like them. It reminds me of how nice Daniel and Robert were to me when I was annoying and followed them around. Thanks again! :) So yeah, dinner was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! After dinner, we went upstairs and played DDR. Then they went to rent a movie and buy candy. They ended up buying the movie they wanted to see instead. I would have never EVER guessed college students were interested in this movie! They hadn't seen it yet, but they had the soundtrack for it! Can you guess????????????????????????? Yep, HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3!!!!!!!!!!! It was majorly cheesy of course, but it was the best of the 3. Kelsi had the exact same flower teapot that Alien has. I got really excited when I saw that. Anyway...............................yeah it was awesome!

Second update: On Thursday, mom bought a new CD. She likes the artist almost as much as I do! DAVID ARCHULETA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah, he is so amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Third update: Today Erin had her baby blessing! We went to Michele's church. A girl named Maggie McDonald from my old A.L.L. classes in 5th and 6th grade is in my sister's ward, and I saw her there. And two other people I didn't expect were also there! A guy from my speech class and one of the counselors at my school!
We had brunch at our house after Sacrament Meeting. The Keish was amazing! Thank you Michele and Mom! Ben's family was there too, so there were TONS of little kids downstairs. But I mostly hung out with Emily and Sadie, even though I had met Parson and Joshie Boy before when I played Mario Party 8 at their house. After the Heiner family left, The Poulsens and Daniel and Stephanie stayed around for a little while. Emily, Sadie, Katelyn and I made a fort. Sadie and Kate made a noodle dinner (tinkertoys) while Emily played with the recipe book (LeapPad). I layed around and read. :P

Fourth update: Heather was oficially due yesterday. Stephanie is so swollen! Heather needs to come SOON!!! We are all so excited for her to come! And I think we ALL want her to have that Coleman smile! :)

Fifth update: I have oficially passed Mom in Inkspell, the book we are reading. I am almost 100 pages past her now. Farid and Meggie rock!

Sixth update: I just started the third chapter in Charm, the sequel to Mist. Don't worry, I'm still editing Mist. I have some people at school reading and correcting it for me.

Seventh update: I am either sick or my spring allergies are coming. My face always feels hot, I am congested, I am sneezing, and my throat feels scratchy and puffy. It's probably just allergies.

Eighth update: I have put a lot of updates!

Ninth update: I'm done now! Love you guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finished!

Sorry it's been so long since I've updated! I've already told most of you by now, but I finished MIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was on January 31, exactly 3 months after I started it during NaNoWriMo! At the time, it had 57,669 words. But now that I have started editing, I have 60,340!!! And I've only edited the first four chapters of fifty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So yeah, I'm wayyyyyyyyyy excited. Sorry I just keep talking about Mist and not update very often. There's nothing interesting to write about! Let me think of something I can say..............................................
Oh! I know! I'm kind of on a reading craze ever since Mom and I read Inkheart! I just got Inkspell yesterday from the school library. I've been reading a few series' lately and hope to start a few, so I will show you some as a good reading reference!
First, is Charlie Bone by Jenny Nimmo. These aren't my favorite and they're a little childish, but I find myself enjoying the story and the writing. I just finished the third one. These are the names of all the books in order: Midnight for Charlie Bone, Charlie Bone and the Time Twister, Charlie Bone and the Invisible Boy, Charlie Bone and the Castle of Mirrors, Charlie Bone and the Hidden King, Charlie Bone and the Beast, and Charlie Bone and the Shadow.
An even better series is the Shadow Children Sequence by Margaret Peterson Haddix. It's about a boy named Luke, who is a third child (which are illegal!) They're kind of depressing books, but they're really good. I just started the sixth out of seven. The books are: Among the Hidden, Among the Imposters, Among the Betrayed, Among the Barons, Among the Brave, Among the Enemy, and Among the Free.
Also is the Inkheart Trilogy by Cornelia Funke!!! I suggest this even more than the first two! Mom and I have read Inkheart, and mom just started Inkspell (because I'm still reading Among the Enemy), and the last book, Inkdeath just came out. Good books!
A series I want to read once I'm done with those is the Keys to the Kingdom by Garth Nix. There are seven, all with a title that has to do with a day of the week. Alien started reading them and says they are really good. I would also like to read the Bartimaes Trilogy which Alien loves.
A series I have already read that is TOTALLY AMAZING is the Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan!!!!!!!!!!!! THESE BOOKS ARE AWESOME!!!!!! READ THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!! The books are: The Lightning Theif, The Sea of Monsters, The Titan's Curse, The Battle of the Labyrinth, and the final book, The Last Olympian is coming out this year in May, I think......................

So yeah, those are some coolio books. Now that I have finished Mist, I'll probably actually put something else besides that on here! But I don't know what to write about! Nothing interesting happens hardly ever, or at least not that the fam would care about............maybe more with friends.
Anyway, Mist is going to be five books. I kinda started the second one/are still mostly editing Mist. Mist is four letters, and Charm, the next book is five, and the third is secret (six letters), so I'm trying to keep that pattern that totally happened by accident for the last two books. Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So yeah, if you want to help edit, or already are, email me!!!!!!!!!!!
